Indian Inspired Meatball Curry

Indian Inspired Meatball Curry is mildly spiced, with tender seasoned meatballs cooked in tomato-based sauce with okra.  This recipe was inspired by Indian korma, a type of mild curry, and the meatballs would likely be made of lamb. While this recipe requires a little bit of work making and frying the meatballs, the end result is well-worth the effort.  Perfect for a Sunday dinner with family and friends with a starter of Breaded Cauliflower, Indian Inspired Meatball Curry is rich with a profusion of flavors.  Serve Indian Inspired Meatball Curry with steamed rice, warm naan or as is.  Refrigerate any unfinished portion of the curry and reheat it for a great lunch.

Italian Sausage Curry

Italian Sausage Curry has an irreverent vibe to it. While using Italian sausage in an Indian curry might seem unusual, it yields wonderful results.  Savory and not-too-spicy, Italian Sausage Curry is delicious as is, over rice or with naan on the side.  Take your dinner international with either Sicilian Orange Salad or Greek Cucumber Tomato Salad as a starter followed by Italian Sausage Curry as your main course.

Cape Malay Curry Mince

Cape Malay Curry Mince is a great example of South Africa’s remarkably diverse cuisine, as befits a country of its size and scope.  One of South Africa’s oldest population groups are known as the Cape Malay, originally comprised of peoples brought from various parts of the East Indies to the Cape Colony by the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century, as slaves and indentured servants. With historical cultural references tracing back to Indonesia, China, India and other parts of southeast and southern Asia combined with food stuffs native to South Africa, Cape Malay cuisine is particularly memorable, ranging from starters through to desserts. Savory and sweet elements are often combined in many of its recipes.  South African Cape Malay Curry Mince is in its simplest essence a ground beef curry; however, its subtle mix of seasonings will beguile you and make it so much more.  Start with Sicilian Orange Salad for an unusual but great meal. Try it and enjoy!

Curried Tuna Salad

Curried Tuna Salad is a mildly spicy and colorful variation on an old favorite.  We make it often at our place, especially during Lent.  It’s great for lunch and can anchor a dinner when accompanied by an assortment of vegetable sides; quartered ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced cucumber and pickled carrots or radishes come to mind.  Feel free to add a tablespoon of chopped raisins, currants or dried cranberries to Curried Tuna Salad to add a sweet element to it; if you want to spice it up, add finely chopped Serrano or Jalapeno chili.  Not keen on curry? Try our Thai Tuna Salad!

Yellow Curry with Shrimp and Tofu

Yellow Curry with Shrimp and Tofu brings to mind the delicious seafood and coconut milk-based soups of Thailand.  Yellow curry powder brings its heady aroma, deep flavors and vibrant color to this curry without overwhelming the other ingredients.  The shrimp and tofu boost the protein content while the lime leaves, fish sauce and lemon juice add their fresh, bright and complementary flavor elements.  Yellow Curry with Shrimp and Tofu can be served over rice (traditional), sautéed cauliflower rice (for the carb conscious) or as is, which is our favorite way to enjoy it.

Japanese-Style Pork Curry

This recipe for mild but full-flavored Japanese-Style Pork Curry is recreated from “taste memory”, having consumed it often at “Masa-Ya”, a Japanese restaurant in West Los Angeles, which was owned by a lovely and talented lady named Grace.  Sadly, while “Masa-Ya” is no longer with us today, this wonderful dish is.  Serve Japanese-Style Pork Curry over (authentic fashion) or accompanied by (Western-style) freshly steamed white rice; it’s also just as delicious without any rice at all. Hearty and comforting, it’s particularly good on a wet, cold winter day. Begin your meal with a Sicilian Orange Salad appetizer for a great taste contrast and a reminder that sunny days will return.  Heat up leftover Japanese-Style Pork Curry for a great lunch too.
